KK's house has windows and a cut out for the A.C. It does NOT, however, have a doorknob, drywall, wiring or even a real floor. (All to come in good time)
I did plug in the AC just to see what would happen and was pleasantly surprised to find that it DID cool the space off despite the HUGEly high ceiling and the fact that today was literally 105 degrees outside!

The little house is amazingly great, as is the effort each of us is making to handle this transition into a larger family and a busy fall. Third day into the first school week and lunches are getting packed, homework and class preparation done, busy people up and down at more or less the right times. I feel hopeful we will smooth out even a little more and relax into a busy but not hectic family life.
